She will be leading the team Hafner: \u00a0\u201cMolecular Dynamics at the Synapse\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Title<\/h3>\n<p>Presynapse Function and Dysfunction<\/p>\n<h3>Abstract<\/h3>\n<p>We study\u00a0the dynamic composition of synapses, the\u00a0molecular basis of memory\u00a0encoding in the brain. Synapses semi-autonomous subcellulare regions of neurons often located hundred of micrometers to centimeters away from their neuronal cell body. The lab studies changes in synapse compositions (i.e. RNA, protein, lipids) associated with healthy synaptic function like during memory storage or in pathology like in Alzheimer\u2019s disease. My lab uses a large array of techniques including omics-approaches combined\u00a0with FACs-based synapse purification, metabolic labelling, super-resolution, live-imaging as well as computational modelling to elucidate the functional impact(s) of synapse composition alterations.
